Dark Hollow Falls

Dark Hollow Falls is found along Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park.  Parking is located right off Skyline Drive along with the trailhead.  The park was very busy this weekend, as it was Memorial Weekend.  

When you enter the trail, it is a pretty steep decline on asphalt until you level out and enter the trail.  The trail is very rocky with a lot of steps and tree roots along the way.  The way to the falls is downhill.  There are many "shortcuts" that the kids found interesting.  

The waterfall, not very tall, but just as beautiful is found at the base of the trail.  It has several nice areas off the walking path to sit and view it's beauty (and to catch your breath before heading back up). 

The climb back to the trailhead was more intense for this out of shape climber.  I had to pull out my walking sticks and take a few breaks along the way.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous, sunny with a high of 64 degrees.  

We will definitely climb this trail again!
